THE STUDIO:

FORT GREG RADIO

I never planned on opening a recording studio. In 1994 I purchased a Tascam ½” 8 track tape machine, an English made Soundcraft mixer, a DBX two channel mic preamp, a DBX compressor and a handful of decent microphones. My intent was to record one final self-release and leave music behind. Forever. The universe had other plans.

Fort Greg is the unintended consequence of my swan song album, which gained some notice by some folks. They liked what I was doing and wanted to work with me by getting their songs on tape.

I soon had a growing list of clients and was recording music for songwriters, bands, independent record labels, local and national television advertisements, corporate in-house films and theater sound design.

My simple analog recording rig moved rapidly into the digital realm. I’m now in a world of plug ins, editing, multiple back ups, operating system updates, old school ribbon microphones, vintage mic preamps and amazing analog to digital converters.

I still have all of the original gear that I cut my teeth on. It sits, on idle, waiting to be called back into action by some brave souls daring to venture into a Jurassic playground.

FORT GREG RADIO

Press play to listen to outtakes, re-mixes, works in progress and long lost lo-fi gems from a variety of my songs and bands, Nashville recordings and co-writes and, of course, other great music recorded at Fort Greg.

This month FORT GREG RADIO features three songs that made the rounds in Nashville.

Talking, driving and crying. National pastimes.
