Remnants

A trip through my life in music using dusty photos, ancient video footage and band promotional materials. It’s a brief overview of what is now detailed in this website.  Thanks to Ava Paul for art direction and camera work.

Amy Farris

The song is titled “Undecided.” The video was shot at a concert held on the Nike Campus. She was a wicked good fiddle player and a wonderful person. RIP, Amy.

There’s Nothing Happening (1995)

The song was written during my time with Daisy Chain. Once that band ended, there was a Sing Sing Sleepwalker reboot. Jack Inglis was working for the very creative video artist and Grammy winner,  Jim Blashfield. Jim was looking to test out some new techniques and was looking for a good song and a band to go with it. We fit the bill.

Shake it Off

I wrote this song in 1987.  KPDX was launching a music related series featuring Portland based bands and Sing Sing Sleepwalker was one of the groups selected for filming.  Bobby Castenega was the chief instigator and host. An instrumental version of this tune became the theme song and subsequent bumper music for the program.

Another Day

Long before house concerts were a thing, Sing Sing Sleepwalker held shows in a spacious loft rented by our gifted vocalist Jack Inglis in Old Town Portland.  In 1988, Stumptown rent was dirt cheap.

Jack, a fine artist in his own right, and his highly creative partner (now wife) Cris, transformed their ample space into a fantastic wonderland of sight and sound. Filmmaker Bruce Robinson shot and expertly edited this video, which truly captures a moment in time. Sadly, the original audio had degraded on my copy of the videotape.

Fortunately, the show was recorded by our soundman, and sixth band member, Greg (Clem) Clemmer.  I saved the 30 plus year old cassette recording and through some voodoo editing magic, was able to sync it up with the original film.

Welcome Home

This song exemplifies the songwriting that I was into during my Nashville years.

It is dedicated to my brother, Jeff Paul, a formidable artist, designer, art director, musician and punk rock pioneer/singer with the legendary Portland, Oregon band, Final Warning.

 RIP Jeff 1966 -2013

 Gone But Not Forgotten

Beautiful Lie

I recorded this one a few years back and decided it was time to add some images to the narrative.
